En 2024, Florida registr\u00f3 unas ventas\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">de electricidad al por menor\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">de unos 255 millones de megavatios-hora,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eia.gov\/electricity\/state\/florida\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">ocupando el segundo lugar del pa\u00eds<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">. Actualmente, un sistema energ\u00e9tico seguro no es solo aquel que puede producir suficiente electricidad.\u00a0Tambi\u00e9n debe poder\u00a0funcionar durante olas de calor, inundaciones y periodos de demanda extrema. Esta distinci\u00f3n es especialmente importante para los floridanos, ya que las presiones clim\u00e1ticas amenazan las infraestructuras que alimentan nuestra vida cotidiana.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Cuando suben las temperaturas, la demanda de electricidad aumenta con ellas, especialmente porque los hogares dependen del aire acondicionado. Cuando se producen tormentas m\u00e1s intensas, nuestras subestaciones, centrales el\u00e9ctricas y redes de suministro de combustible pueden sufrir da\u00f1os e interrupciones. Los hospitales, las estaciones de bomberos y las residencias de\u00a0ancianos, todas infraestructuras\u00a0cr\u00edticas,\u00a0se\u00a0vuelven m\u00e1s vulnerables y costosas de proteger. Los sistemas de los que dependen los floridanos, debido a estos efectos en cadena, se est\u00e1n volviendo ahora, en la pr\u00e1ctica, menos fiables,\u00a0m\u00e1s caros y m\u00e1s vulnerables.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">El primer paso es reforzar la infraestructura energ\u00e9tica cr\u00edtica frente a las condiciones clim\u00e1ticas, incluyendo subestaciones, l\u00edneas de transmisi\u00f3n, centrales el\u00e9ctricas, hospitales, centros de respuesta a emergencias, sistemas de agua y residencias de ancianos. No\u00a0se\u00a0trata de planificaci\u00f3n medioambiental, sino de\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pubs.naruc.org\/pub\/FF9E2073-E2EE-A986-C89E-1B47A6465738?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">seguridad p\u00fablica<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Florida tambi\u00e9n debe empezar a considerar seriamente la diversificaci\u00f3n y la eficiencia energ\u00e9ticas como una prioridad de seguridad.\u00a0Nuestra gran dependencia del gas natural nos hace vulnerables, ya que una \u00fanica fuente de combustible dominante deja a los residentes expuestos a las fluctuaciones de precios y a las interrupciones del suministro. Ampliar la energ\u00eda solar, la energ\u00eda nuclear, el almacenamiento en bater\u00edas, las microrredes y otros sistemas de energ\u00eda distribuida har\u00eda que nuestra red el\u00e9ctrica fuera m\u00e1s flexible y resiliente.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">La energ\u00eda solar, en particular,\u00a0es abundante en el\u00a0Estado del Sol. Combinada con el almacenamiento en bater\u00edas, ayudar\u00e1 a las comunidades a mantener el suministro el\u00e9ctrico durante los picos de demanda o tras fen\u00f3menos meteorol\u00f3gicos extremos. El desarrollo econ\u00f3mico no deber\u00eda hacer que la red el\u00e9ctrica de Florida sea m\u00e1s fr\u00e1gil, especialmente en medio del aumento de las temperaturas.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Una estrategia energ\u00e9tica moderna y segura para Florida debe incluir el refuerzo de la red, la diversificaci\u00f3n de los combustibles, la energ\u00eda limpia, el almacenamiento en bater\u00edas, la eficiencia, las microrredes y una planificaci\u00f3n transparente, especialmente para los centros de datos. El objetivo no puede ser simplemente \u00abm\u00e1s energ\u00eda\u00bb.
