VoLo Foundation’s recently held annual Climate Correction™ 2023 conference succeeded in attracting a lot of media attention, helping us achieve our goal of disseminating scientific knowledge about the global climate situation to the public.
This experience confirms what the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change says regarding media coverage of climate: in a study of 59 countries, it increased from about 47 thousand articles in 2016-17 to about 87 thousand in 2020-21.
The organization adds that media representation of climate science has increased and become more accurate over time.
On this occasion, our conference garnered headlines such as “Educan sobre impacto del cambio climático en la población” (La Prensa), “‘Use your voice now:’ Environmental activists unveil new mural before Orlando climate conference” (News 6), “La Florida Central con mayor peligro ante los cambios climáticos” (Univision), “New Orlando mural showcases endangered animals, climate change” (WFTV 9) and “Climate CorrectionTM Conference 2023 – VoLo Foundation” (Orlando Business Journal).
For those who could not attend the event we have all the sessions available in our Climate Correction podcast (English) and Corrección Climática (Spanish). They will also be available soon on video on our YouTube channel.
We invite you to stay tuned for news about Florida Climate Week, our next meeting, which will be held the first week of October. Very soon we will start sharing the details through all our platforms.
