VoLo & MIT Halocarbon Study

Our partner program, Massachusetts Institute of Technology with the great Professor Susan Solomon and graduate student Megan Lickey have begun a study to assess how halocarbons like hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) and Hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) emissions contribute to global warming. These halocarbon emissions come from regular household products and appliances like aerosol sprays, spray paints, and non-energy efficient refrigerators.

The study will analyze the amount of halocarbons at risk of escaping and quantify the potential impact of policies to prevent further emission into the atmosphere.
