NPBRC Shows Outstanding Performances at Florida State Rowing Championships

[Juno Beach, FL] – The North Palm Beach Rowing Club (NPBRC) continues to make waves in the rowing community with stellar performances at recent state championships.

During the Florida Scholastic Rowing Association State Sweeps Championship on April 26th and 27th at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, FL, NPBRC secured two more state championships, further solidifying its position as a powerhouse in the sport.

The Youth team of NPBRC delivered exceptional performances, with all five boats competing in the Grand Finals on Sunday. The results were as follows:

  • Girls 2- : Viktoria Ekstrand and Myla Chance – 1st place
  • Girls Junior 4+: Kaitlyn DeMaria, Fredericka D’Loughy, Wilhelmina D’Loughy, Chloe Ryder, and Carolina Ricci – 1st place
  • Boys 2- : Logan Smith and Ronin Jones- 2nd place
  • Girls Freshman 4+: Adele Schwinghammer, Briauna Brown, Philippa Bouwman, Madison Rahael, and Tessa French – 6th place
  • Girls Varsity 8+: Kaitlyn DeMaria, Phlippa Bouwman, Fredericka D’Loughy, Wilhelmina D’Loughy, Josephine Mittner, Anabelle Persson, Adele Schwinghammer, Briauna Brown, Carolina Ricci – 8th place

NPBRC at States – Girls Double Scullers Generate Quadruple Sweep Wins

NPBRC’s dominance was previously displayed at the Florida Scholastic Rowing Association State Sculling Championship held on April 13th and 14th, where the Girls team achieved a remarkable 6th place overall, with the Boys team securing a commendable 15th place, resulting in an overall 10th place ranking for NPBRC. The championship saw participation from 49 rowing clubs across the state.

In the Girls Double Sculls category, NPBRC’s athletes dominated the competition, claiming victories in four separate events:

  • Girls Freshman 2x: Adele Schwinghammer and Briauna Brown – 1st place
  • Girls Junior 2x: Kaitlyn DeMaria and Chloe Ryder – 1st place
  • Girls Lightweight 2x: Wilhelmina D’Loughy and Fredericka D’Loughy – 1st place
  • Girls Varsity 2x: Viktoria Ekstrand and Myla Chance – 1st place

Additional athletes who medaled in their individual events:

  • Girls Freshman 1x: Philippa Bouwman – 1st place
  • Boys Varsity 1x: Ronin Jones – 2nd place
  • Boys Varsity 1x: Logan Smith – 2nd place

Head Coach Scott McKee expressed immense pride in the team’s performance, stating, “Our athletes have put in countless hours of training and preparation, and their dedication has truly paid off. Their success is a testament to their talent, determination, and the unwavering support of our coaching staff including Coach Ben Morgan and Coach Emre Cikinci, and the entire NPBRC community.”

The NPBRC Youth Team will continue their racing journey at the Southeast Regional Championships on May 8th, and the USRowing Southeast Youth Championships on May 11th and 12th. Their goal is to qualify for the prestigious USRowing Youth National Championships from June 6th to 9th, also in Sarasota, FL.

In support of athlete development, NPBRC is fundraising for a world-class boathouse within Bert Winters Park. The club’s Boathouse Development Project, in partnership with VoLo Foundation, aims to provide top-notch facilities for the community’s benefit.
